The next Troop Meeting is Wednesday, November 26, 2008 - 7:30PM
We will be assembling the Thanksgiving Baskets, please
remember your items!
A message from Mrs. B:
1. Ten Commandment Hike - We did a
big "oopsie" this year. We totally forgot about the 10 Commandment Hike! That
being said - any family interested in attending the hike please let me know asap.
The hike is taking place in Long Beach this year -on it's usual day - the day
after Thanksgiving.
This is a family event - all are welcome. Cost is $5.00 per person. Lunch &
patch are included.
As of now - the numbers for the hike are low - so it is pretty much a guarantee
that at least one of the four hikes will be canceled. The All Faith Committee
will notify units on Tuesday as to the hike they are in. The committee has
extended the "deadline" until 5PM tomorrow (Friday - 11/21)
Scouts working on the All Faith Award must participate in a hike.
Again - sorry for the whoops ----- and the short notice. Let me know asap if
you & your family plan on attending.
2. Thanksgiving Baskets. For those who
don't know - annually we put together a Thanksgiving food basket (per patrol)
that is given to a needy family. Each patrol member chooses items out of a hat
to bring - all items should be enough to feed 8 people & should not need
refrigeration. The troop purchases the turkeys. The baskets will be put
together at the next troop meeting and Susana Isaacson will pick them up FROM
the meeting - she will be arriving about 8:45PM.
Here's what each Scout is to bring:
Viking Patrol -
Anthony - rolls, canned vegetables (any
kind), mashed potatoes (instant)
Chris - cranberry sauce, canned yams,
gravy
Craig - stuffing, dessert
Senior Patrol -
Charlie - mashed potatoes, gravy
Jimmy - rolls, dessert
Nick - cranberry sauce, stuffing
Steven - vegetables, yams
If a Scout cannot make the meeting on Wednesday it is his responsibility to make
sure his food items get to the troop meeting.
3. Toys for Tots -
Since the Scouts in the Viking Patrol have their winter concert on December 17th
the Toys for Tots collection will be held at the meeting on December 10th. All
Scouts should bring a new, unwrapped toy for the collection. Mrs. Vande Stouwe
will be handling the collection this year
